The Tennis Walking Wounded - 4 Notable Injuries

In preparation for the French Open later this month, let’s have a quick look at who is part of the walking wounded club, or just flat out wounded. This does not represent a full list of injured players, just (my) notables.

  • Ana Ivanovic - Knee Injury - Expects to be ready for the French Open, however withdrew out of Madrid. Doctors are noting inflammation in her right knee.

  • David Nalbandian - Hip Surgery - Gone for 3 to 4 months undergoing hip surgery this month. He’ll be gone for much of the summer, however potential to see him at the U.S Open.

  • Gael Monfils - Knee Injury - Out several weeks, may miss French Open. Apparently the Frenchman has Osgood-Schlatter’s disease which can cause acute inflammation in the knee.
  • Maria Sharapova - Shoulder Injury - Maria was playing with a torn rotator cuff tendon. Sharapova has not played in about 7 months, and we won’t be seeing her at the French Open.
