Wimbledon 2009: It’s Roddick & Federer for the Title
Well this wasn’t supposed to happen?
Wasn’t the story supposed to be: “Local” boy slays American to set-up dream final ???
Andy Roddick played solid tennis this afternoon to dispatch Andy Murray in what was a good match, not a great match, and certainly to the disapointment of the millions in the U.K. hoping for Murray to pull through.
Give Roddick lots of credit here, he served well, played his backhand great, and volleyed quite adequately as well.
Is it a curse? Murray should have been able to overcome the American. The crowd should have helped him through any obstacle the Roddick presented. It wasn’t meant to be this afternoon, and Federer may have some further breathing room on Sunday, who dispatched Haas with relative ease.
Federer is no stranger to Roddick in Wimbledon finals and certainly he has his number. BUT Roddick is playing well, no one can argue this. While Roddick will pose problems to Federer, let’s get serious here…Federer in 3 or 4. I’d be totally surprised if this goes the limit.
Sunday will be interesting for sure, but like many of you, a bit shocked that Andy Murray couldn’t overcome this today.
Another year, another disapointment.
